Day 3

New Levels of Spiritual
Intimacy & Life in the Spirit

Theme Scripture:

James 4:8 — “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.”

Devotional:

I don’t think the problem is that God isn’t speaking — I think it’s that we’re usually moving too fast to listen. Fasting has a way of slowing things down. It creates space. And in that space, we often realize God has been near all along. Pastor Craig Groeschel says, “if you find yourself far from God, just know that He isn’t the one that moved”. As people, we tend to get distracted and wander away from God and James is reminding us that if we find ourself wandering, we have the ability to turn and draw closer to God.

Jesus said, “My sheep hear My voice” (John 10:27). That’s a promise. The Holy Spirit wants to guide us — not just on Sundays, but in everyday decisions, conversations, and moments of obedience. Paul says we’re meant to “keep in step with the Spirit” (Galatians 5:25). That implies closeness. Awareness. Relationship.

Intimacy with God isn’t complicated, but it is intentional. As we draw near, distractions lose their grip and clarity begins to return.

Prayer Focus:

Holy Spirit, quiet the noise in my life. Help me recognize Your voice, walk in step with You, and grow deeper in daily relationship with You.
