Unshakeable Devotional - Life!

Life!

By: Pastor Ryan Tremmel, Experience Pastor
In the Old Testament book of Ezekiel, chapter 37, is an amazing story of an exchange between God and the prophet Ezekiel. God takes Ezekiel to a valley full of dead bodies. Yes you read that right. In fact they were so dead that their bones were described as being dry, no sign of life was on or in these bones. Yet God asks an extremely intriguing question, “Son of man, can these bones live?” Why would God ask the prophet if these bones could live? It is clear that they are dead to the point of being dry and beyond all hope. Ezekiel responds in four little faith filled words that we can relate to, “God only you know.”

In life we face many seasons or cycles when we look around and it feels if we are surrounded by chaos, by confusion, by certain death to our hopes and dreams. It is in those moments that I pray and plead with God. “God I don’t understand, why this and why now? Don’t you see my pain? This is ruined! it’s dead! Now what?”

And while I am looking out at the valley of dry bones in my own life, I channel my inner Ezekiel and muster up the courage and faith and say “God only you know!” I don’t have an answer, I don’t know the why or the how but God you alone know my future and I know that it is life and not death!

God responds to Ezekiel and instructs Him to prophesy over the bones so that they may come back to life, so they might LIVE! He lead them through a process so they would know that He is God (.v6)

Let me encourage you to begin to look at your own valley of dry bones that God knows you and He is in control as difficult as it is sometimes to surrender to His will. His Word is full of promises to give you LIFE and give it to you abundantly (John 10:10) and that He has a plan and a future for you that is not to harm you but to bless you (Jer 29:11)!! Begin to prophesy and to speak God’s truth over your valley and watch as God brings LIFE into your life!

Let's Pray.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for being in control even when I can’t see it. Help me to trust in your plan for my life and trust that it is good always! Give me the courage to speak life and your truth into the dry bones in my life. I Trust you, I believe in you and I love you. In Jesus name, Amen!

(Begin to prophesy and to speak God’s truth over your valley and watch as God brings LIFE into your life!). Such a powerful pattern to follow. Thank you, Ryan. I love it when those nuggets come.
