Unshakeable Devotional - You Are Not A Failure!

You Are Not A Failure!

By: Jessica Rios, Assistant To Lead Pastors
Find time for yourself, they say. Wake up early, they say. Drink your coffee and have your quiet time on your favorite couch with God every single morning, they say. Sounds good, right? Sounds like they have it all together, don’t they! Ha, well sometimes that is just unrealistic. Some mornings are hectic, some mornings you wake up late, some mornings you are running out of your house and spill coffee all over yourself while driving in your car and listening to your bible audiobook on the way to work. Does that sound more recognizable to you?

There are many times when I reflect on my life and feel like there are things holding me back from taking my next step on this journey we call life. I notice that the season I find myself in does not align with where I think I should be based on the goals I set for myself. I get frustrated. Am I good enough at my job? Am I a good enough wife? Am I going to be a good mom? Am I a good enough friend, sister, daughter? I’ve given up on my systems and process that I always knew and created new ones, I’ve changed up my routines and followed the direction of others and I’ve flat out just started fresh so many times. Sometimes starting over worked for a while and sometimes it never did from the start. What I came to find out in all of those situations is that whatever situation I was finding myself in was exactly where God wanted me. When I felt pressure at work or stagnant in my marriage and relationships, that is where God was teaching me something incredibly valuable. God knows exactly what I needed to get through those moments and if I would have just allowed Him to, He would have given me the tools that I needed to push through and come out stronger every time!

Too many times I focus more on where God is taking me that I don’t appreciate the challenges. In the trials is where God will use you and grow your faith! Hebrews 10:36 reminds us “You need to preserve so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised.” God will honor our obedience! That’s His promise to us. It can seem like chaos in the moment and we may feel like we are not making any progress towards His will, but it’s all about perspective. I read something once that really made me change my perspective “what if the tasks that currently consume our time are where we’re supposed to find God?” Powerful words to meditate on!

I encourage you to not let the craziness of your life discourage you, instead seek God and what He is trying to teach you! God will not set you up to fai!
