Unshakeable Devotional - The Power Of A Story

The Power Of A Story

By: Pastor Jeremiah Ziegler, Student Pastor
Everyone has a favorite story. Maybe you love the cinematic flair of The Skywalker Saga or maybe you’re a big fan of a “Cinderella” sports team, whose historic championship run has been ingrained in your memory. Whatever it is, we all are attracted to stories. It’s part of who we are to feel like we are a part of the world we read or watch. But did you know that you have a unique and powerful story that carries the same weight and potential to grip people’s emotions and lives as any other story out there?

Revelations 12:11 tells us that:
“And they conquered him by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony…”
(ESV, emphasis added).

What a powerful statement! How important should it make us feel that our story, paired with the blood of Jesus is what allows us to overcome the devil and works of darkness, not only in our own lives, but in the lives of those around us. Not only do we get the opportunity to share the Gospel, but Jesus gives us the opportunity to partner with him, through our testimony, to be a part of his story. Absolutely incredible!

There are people out there who need to hear your story. They need to know that there is someone who can relate to them and someone who is trying to grow and live more like Jesus. The only way we can have the boldness to share our story with conviction is to trust God’s word that our story matters. It’s actually a part of God’s design in seeing other people know Him and find freedom!

My question to you today is this - “who can you tell your story to?” Even if you feel that your story isn’t “spectacular” it absolutely is in the hands of our God. In the same way that authors introduce us to new worlds and characters through the stories that they pen, let’s introduce others to a world filled with hope and love and the most dynamic character in the history of the world. Let’s be obedient and trust that partnered with what Jesus already did on the cross, our story has the power to change the lives of those around us.
